Where it all began

Bocs Chwys has grown out of a life long connection to making and being outdoors.

I trained as a cabinet maker and furniture designer, and later graduated in Product Design. Alongside that I’ve run my own specalist decking business for over 25 years, and worked in a range of design fields including military and healthcare.

Most of my time outside of work has been spent outdoors — wave riding, cycling, trail running; in the mountains, or in the sea. Sauna has been part of that for as long as I can remember, going back to being taken by my parents as a kid on a weekly basis

In 2020 when lockdown struck, I knew I’d struggle without my weekly saunas so built my own in the garden where I’m lucky enough to have beach access for sea dips. Since then it’s become part of everyday life — heat, cold water, and time outside.

Wanting to share that with others and in more places — lakes, rivers, mountains, or simply people’s own gardens and always chasing sunsets! — I built the first Bocs Chwys mobile sauna by converting a horse-box trailer.

Bocs Chwys was born from a love of all thing outdoors and a life time of designing and making. It’s a way of sharing something that’s been a big part of my own life, through sessions, private hire, and building saunas for others.
